The origin story

It started, like most things in my life, with a book recommendation. A friend told me I had to read Zodiac Academy. "Trust me," she said. "You'll be obsessed."

She was right. I devoured all eight books in a month. And somewhere between Darcy's fire magic and Tory's stubborn Gemini energy, I fell down the astrology rabbit hole. Hard.

I started learning about my birth chart. Not just my sun sign (Sagittarius, thanks for asking), but my moon, my rising, my houses, my aspects. I wanted to understand all of it.

The problem? Every astrology app I tried felt... off. Generic sun sign horoscopes that could apply to anyone. Notifications that felt like spam. Content that was either too woo-woo or too surface-level.

I wanted something that actually knew me. That understood my whole chart. That felt like getting a text from a friend who happened to be really good at astrology.

So I built it.

Scope isn't another generic horoscope app. Here's what we do differently:

• Actually personal. Two Sagittarians with different rising signs will get different readings. Because you're not the same person.

Our approach to astrology

I believe astrology is a tool for self-reflection, not prediction. Your birth chart doesn't determine your fate. It's more like a map of your tendencies, your strengths, your growth edges.

I also believe astrology should be accessible. You shouldn't need to spend years studying to understand your chart. That's why our content breaks down complex concepts into language that actually makes sense.

And yes, I still think it's fun. I still get excited when I see a Jupiter transit coming. I still text my friends when Venus enters their sign. Astrology doesn't have to be serious all the time.

The nerdy details

For those who care about accuracy (I do), here's how we calculate everything:

• Swiss Ephemeris: We use the same astronomical data that powers professional astrology software. It's based on NASA JPL data and is accurate to fractions of an arc second.
• Placidus house system: The most commonly used house system in Western astrology. (We know there are debates about this. We picked one and committed.)
• Tropical zodiac: We use the tropical zodiac, which is based on the seasons rather than the constellations.
• Real-time transits: Your daily reading reflects actual planetary positions, not pre-written content recycled from last year.
